Pandora Sykes ( @pandorasykes )
Pandora is a journalist, broadcaster, speaker and the co-host of a chart-topping podcast. Prior to her current role as a Contributing Editor and digital columnist at ELLE magazine, she has written for titles including The Sunday Times, The Telegraph, The Guardian, GQ, Marie Claire, Man Repeller, Vogue and i-D.
Pandora's extensive journalistic experience spanning fashion, pop and social culture, lifestyle and mental health, has given her a profound understanding of and curiosity in the lives of women, which is beautifully explored through her current work. At the core of her writing and speaking today, is the ambition to make women feel less alone and more understood. Her inspired and inspiring explorations of what it means to be a woman, look at the way we live: how we talk, what we read, how we vote, what we wear, what we care about and worry about; what we love – and what we hate.
In addition to her written work, Pandora's award winning podcast, The High Low, a weekly news, pop-culture and current affairs podcast, co-hosted by fellow journalist, Dolly Alderton, is downloaded by more than a quarter of a million listeners each week.
In February 2019, Pandora crowd-funded for her first non-fiction longform essay, The Authentic Lie, published by the independent publisher, The Pound Project. The essay garnered over 4,200 backers and was published via digital and print editions, in March 2019. Her new book, How Do We Know We're Doing It Right: & Other Essays on Modern Life, due for release in July 2020, explores the questions, anxieties and agendas that consume our lives, interrogating the stories we’ve been sold and the ones we tell ourselves – from happiness to wellness; womanhood to consumerism.
We sat down with Pandora to ask our signature 21 questions and find out more about her life, her work, her experiences of womanhood, mamahood and everything in between...
