JENNY SCOTT @mothersmeetings
FOUNDER OF MOTHERS MEETING
WHERE DO YOU LIVE?
The burbs, between Wimbledon and New Malden. I still have a flat which I rent out in East Dulwich where I lived for ten years, but it’s got so popular and busy around there now, so I’ve uprooted to the suburbs and I bloody love it!
IF YOU COULD LIVE ANYWHERE ELSE IN THE WORLD, WHERE WOULD IT BE?
I would love to live in LA for a couple of years, just because of its magical glow and relaxed vibe. I’d probably end up either loving or hating it, who knows!? Apart from that I’m really happy where I live at the moment.
WHAT ARE YOU LISTENING TO AT THE MOMENT?
OMG I used to listen to SOOO much music, I was constantly discovering new DJ’s, club-nights, artists and record labels, but now I just listen to old stuff, literally nothing new. My current playlist is a cross between Notorious BIG, Frank Sinatra and my all time fave garage classic Gabriel by Roy Davis Junior.
WHAT’S YOUR BIGGEST GUILTY PLEASURE?
Watching absolute rubbish on television like Love Island and The Only Way Is Essex, I’m sure it kills brain cells!
WHAT’S IN YOUR HANDBAG TODAY?
Sooo much rubbish. I always judge someone by the state of their handbag. I love nosing at who’s organised and whose represents a bin. At the moment mine is definitely more bin like so I hope no ones judging me!
WHAT’S YOUR MOST PRIZED POSSESSION?
Apart from my children, it has to be on driving license… I still can’t believe I can drive!!
DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONAL STYLE?
Simple Scandinavia crossed with casino glitz and council estate chic.
WHO’S YOUR STYLE ICON?
Lykke Li, Pat Butcher and Sacha Keable.
WHAT’S YOUR PROUDEST ACHIEVEMENT?
Having children, getting a mortgage, passing my driving and writing a book.
WHAT’S THE ONE THING YOU WISH PEOPLE HAD TOLD YOU ABOUT RUNNING YOUR OWN BUSINESS?
It’s non-stop and it takes three or four years before you start to make proper money.
WHAT’S THE ONE THING YOU WISH PEOPLE HAD TOLD YOU ABOUT HAVING KIDS?
It’s bloody hard and you don’t stop feeling guilty.
WHO IS YOUR BIGGEST INSPIRATION?
My boyfriend Leigh, he’s amazing at putting things into perspective and just getting stuff done without worrying what anyone else thinks. He is my rock. My mum and stepfather for raising my sister and I to be respectful human beings and my in-laws for being so cool, calm and collected. Then of course all the women out there being mums who generally get through everyday and still manage a smile here and there. Not forgetting my sister, who I can always rely on for an honest opinion.
WHAT KEEPS YOU UP AT NIGHT?
Stupid stuff that wouldn’t bother me during the day and of course my six month old daughter.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR YOU TODAY?
I’m on a mission to find some high waisted black bikini bottoms.
AND THIS YEAR?
This year is all about getting focused and using what I’ve learnt from the past four and a half years of Mothers Meeting to move forward to bigger and better things… WATCH THIS SPACE!
